چکیده
The elevation of ice sheets response dynamically to climate change and satellite altimetry is the preferred tool for evaluating sheet-wide changes. In-situ validation are needed ensure quality observed changes, but coast most often limiting factor amount in-situ data available. As more tourists accessing sheets, citizen science might provide in an environmental cost-efficient way. Here, we investigate opportunistic kinematic-GPS profiles across Greenland sheet, collected American-Icelandic Expedition on Greenlandic icecap 2018. First, GPS-data tested against widely used NASA Operation IceBridge airborne lidar-scannings, shows good agreement, with accuracy 11 cm. main difference attributed changes compaction snow as encountered while driving, well changing tire pressures. then by inter-comparing it from ESA's CryoSat-2 mission. a bias two records 89 cm observed, Cryosat-2 observation originating subsurface sheet. This points surface penetration Ku-band radar magnitude accordance literature. Finally, assess long-term durability data, when compared profile obtained 2005 near Kangerlussuaq, West Greenland. show average decreased 9 meters peaks at 25.7 meters. result how can be see full impact repeat measurements. Thereby shown highly versatile approach acquire high-resolution altimetry, added benefit potentially direct sampling properties firn, applying traditional platforms. linking up citizen-science expeditions truly beneficial way providing validations may also have societal involving monitoring sheets.

Community-as-a-Service: Data Validation in Citizen Science
Currently, most citizen science projects that adopt a crowdsourcing model focus primarily on collecting and analyzing data. As yet, few of them leverage community interactions for effective data validation yet, which would have significant impact on improving the quality of the increasing volume of citizen science data. In this paper, we introduce an exploratory pilot study focused on understan...
متن کاملA multi-source satellite data approach for modelling Lake Turkana water level: calibration and validation using satellite altimetry data
Lake Turkana is one of the largest desert lakes in the world and is characterized by high degrees of interand intra-annual fluctuations. The hydrology and water balance of this lake have not been well understood due to its remote location and unavailability of reliable ground truth datasets. Managing surface water resources is a great challenge in areas where in-situ data are either limited or ...

A recently developed multiresolution estimation framework offers the possibility of highly efficient statistical analysis, interpolation, and smoothing of extremely large data sets in a multiscale fashion. This framework enjoys a number of advantages not shared by other statistically-based methods. In particular, the algorithms resulting from this framework have complexity that scales only line...
متن کاملGravity acceleration at the sea surface derived from satellite altimetry data using harmonic splines
Gravity acceleration data have grand pursuit for marine applications. Due to environmental effects, marine gravity observations always hold a high noise level. In this paper, we propose an approach to produce marine gravity data using satellite altimetry, high-resolution geopotential models and harmonic splines. On the one hand, harmonic spline functions have great capability for local gravity ...
متن کاملArctic sea surface height variability and change from satellite radar altimetry and GRACE, 20032014
Arctic sea surface height (SSH) is poorly observed by radar altimeters due to the poor coverage of the polar oceans provided by conventional altimeter missions and because large areas are perpetually covered by sea ice, requiring specialized data processing. We utilize SSH estimates from both the icecovered and ice-free ocean to present monthly estimates of Arctic Dynamic Ocean Topography (DOT)...
